Summer Drinks

Summer Drinks

Nothing pairs better with a summer day, than a fun, cold, and refreshing homemade drink. There’s just something about the sunny weather in Kamloops that makes us want to bring out the backyard games, and quench our thirst in the comfort of our own home.

Lucky for us (and you) each of our Team members enjoys a different type of drink during the summer; so without further ado, here are all our favourite summer drinks AND how to make them!

Blair’s Pick: Summer Beer

Summer Beer is such a fun way to drink all your favourite beers this summer! And it’s even a hit with all the non beer drinkers too. Grab a light beer, vodka, and a fruit juice or lemonade of your choosing, and you’re off! If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can even add some fruit!

– 2 quarts pink lemonade
– 24 ounces light beer
– 1 cup vodka

Erin’s Pick: Aperol Spritz

A big summer favourite and crowd pleaser; the Aperol Spritz. And the best part? There’s only 3 ingredients! This drink is simple, refreshing, but super sophisticated, and can be whipped up in just a couple of minutes. Close your eyes, and you’ll be transported to Summer in Italy after just one sip!

– 3 ounces (1 part) Aperol
– 3 ounces (1 part) dry Prosecco
– 1 ounce (a splash) club soda or unflavored sparkling water
– Orange slice, for garnish
– Ice

Melanie’s Pick: Classic Lime Margarita

Is there anything better than having a cold, tart margarita on a patio? We don’t think so. Margaritas are a staple in sunny weather. And the best part is they are fantastic in any flavour! Lime, strawberry, peach, jalapeno – you name it! Replace the lime components in this recipe with a fruit or flavour of your choosing!

– 1/2 cup tequila
– 1/4 cup Triple Sec
– 1/4 cup lime juice
– 1/4 cup lemon juice
– 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
– 4 lime wedges
– 1 tablespoon kosher salt
– 1-1/3 cups crushed ice

Zach’s Pick: Corona With A Lime

You can’t get any more straightforward than this! Elevate your beer game with the splash and pizazz of a lime wedge. Refreshing, quick, and hard to beat!

– 1 glass bottle of Corona
– 1 lime wedge

Jarrod’s Pick: Raspberry Mojito

A fruity twist on a classic; the raspberry mojito is tart, sweet and another perfect patio drink. The key to a good Mojito is muddling everything together, and really blending the flavours. The more mint the better! Of course you can choose any fruit to flavour your mojito, but the raspberry is by far our favourite. This drink will transport you to the sunny beaches of Mexico… Or maybe the Overlander beach. Either one works for us!

– ½ lime, cut into wedges

– 5 raspberries, a nice handful
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 10 fresh mints, a good bunch
– ¼ cup white rum(60 mL)
– club soda

Cassidy’s Pick: White Wine Sangria

Sangria is the perfect summer drink (both red and white), not too sweet, but just the right amount to have a perfectly smooth and fruity taste. You can add additional liquors such as brandy, schnapps or prosecco or even just add some club soda to finish it off. The fruit is up to you too. Add your favourites! The beauty of Sangria is you can add or takeaway whatever you want and make it completely your own!

– ½ cup apricot brandy (optional)
– ¼ cup peach schnapps (optional)
– 1 bottle white wine 750 ml
– 2 oranges sliced
– 2 limes sliced
– 2 peaches pitted & sliced
– 1 ½ cups strawberries halved
– Club soda, prosecco or ginger-ale (optional)
