21 Sep Month by Month in Kamloops: September
The summer has come and gone, but luckily we live in a fabulous place that has activities and adventures for all ages and all seasons. This September blog marks the beginning of our new blog series, ‘Month by Month,’ where we take a closer, in-depth look at things to do in Kamloops during each and every month of the year. This will give you, our readers, an opportunity to see Kamloops through a more specific lens and learn more about the various activities you can partake in here.
So, let’s get right into September! The first official month of fall is always unique in that we still get the warmer summer weather but also start enjoying the classic and timeless fall activities. The weather is still amazing so far this year, so if you didn’t get a chance to soak up some golf this summer, now is your chance! Kamloops has some of the best golf courses in the Interior/Okanagan area, including the award-winning golf course, Tobiano. Honourable mentions go to Bighorn Golf Course, Kamloops Golf and Country Club, and Rivershore Golf Links, which all have amazing courses, great staff, and awesome locations! Be sure to check them out before the weather turns for good.
The weather in September also makes exploring the local hikes and trails around Kamloops an extremely enjoyable experience for all ages. The summer heat often gets too hot for afternoon hikes, so September is the perfect time to check out all the ones you may have missed. Hike Kamloops does an amazing job of laying out all the hiking trails and helping you decide which ones are best depending on your experience levels, whether you have a furry friend tagging along, and more. Some of our favorites include Kenna Cartwright Park, Peterson Creek, and Battle Bluff.
And of course, continuing throughout September, we have the Kamloops Farmers Market. This market provides an amazing opportunity for a wide variety of vendors and patrons to support local businesses, network, buy organic produce/products, and so much more. The Kamloops Farmers Market runs twice a week: Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
You can find a more detailed list of all the other events happening in September in Kamloops on the Tourism Kamloops website. For example, September 23rd is the Kamloops Kids Expo at Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Pow Wow Grounds—a perfect event to take your little ones to as a great way to celebrate them completing their first couple of weeks of school.
September also marks the beginning of lots of sports seasons, professional or otherwise. If you’re into NFL football, head over to your favorite sports bar on Sunday afternoons to catch a game or two. On the Rocks Pub & Grill, located in Aberdeen, and Sharks Club Sports Bar & Grill, located downtown Kamloops, have great food and lots of viewing screens to catch all the action. Additionally, the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack also start up some of their sports seasons—be sure to catch a game or two and support our local university! To find out more about their schedules, go to the Wolfpack website.
September is one of those amazing months where we’re able to do it all. Plus, it’s a great month and time to debrief from the summer and focus on all our goals for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. We hope to see you all out at a few of the amazing things we have to do around town.
Until next month,
The Arksey Rota Real Estate Group
